Your first far away trip with kids, Thailand is where you want to go!
BOOK YOUR TRIP THROUGH THAILAND YOURSELF WITH OUR EASY TRAVEL GUIDE
You were once an avid traveller, with an interest in different cultures, a hunger for adventure and curiosity about what's going on on the other side of the world. Or you never were, but the travel bug has recently been fuelled. Through the (social?) media or perhaps exciting stories from family or friends. But how will you manage if you take your kids? Is it responsible to drag these kids into your sense of adventure? If a sleepover at grandma's and grandpa's seems a population movement, the courage will already sink in if you even think about packing your luggage. It seems like one hell of a job! Well... It's not! Go out with those kids! Show them our wide world! And maybe start with Thailand. Because Thailand offers a lot and is very accessible! We explored the beauty of Thai nature when Bas was 3 years old. If you still have doubts, our pictures might convince you. Any questions? Let us know! We are happy to explain why Thailand is ideal as a travel destination with kids.
WHY THAILAND?
- The people are friendly and kids are welcomed with open arms. The oriental culture is very much focused on kids anyway and you really notice that everywhere. At the local market Bas got fruit and after half a day he greeted everyone with a sincere 'Sawadika!', just because all people behaved so openly towards him. And of course, as a parent you’ll be shining with pride! It is difficult to describe the Thai kindness. It is a feeling that we have only experienced there and everyone who did so, talks about it. You have to experience it to understand.
- Thailand is a vast country and yet you get everywhere very easily. With Air Asia or Air Bangkok you take domestic flights as if you were on a train.
- The food is so delicious! Bas is not an easy eater, but he never refused the heavenly scented meals we were served in Thailand. He was a big fan of peanut-flavoured wok dishes.
BOILING BANGKOK
BANGKOK IS HOT! CHECK OUT THE CLIMATE! AND YET WE HAVE EXPERIENCED BANGKOK AS SUPER FUN. FOR THESE REASONS:
- Bangkok is equipped with a Skytrain system. Both an underground and a subway above the ground. On poles! It looks futuristic in the first place, but it's also super easy to get anywhere. The kids will be impressed!
- Eating on the street is not only super tasty and easy, it is also reliable. No diarrhoea to start your journey with. Behind every corner of our hotel there was a Thai mom with her wok pan. That was our first meal when we arrived in Bangkok. Late in the evening, exhausted from the long journey, we had to look for something to eat. Because we were too tired to really figure it out, we put ourselves on one of the plastic garden chairs in the streets. It had been a long time since we enjoyed dinner so much!
- Nothing better than a decent hotel to overcome jet lag! We chose Grand Central Hotel Terminal 21. In Bangkok you have a lot of nice hotels that are very affordable. Often they have a rooftop pool. View over the city combined with relaxing pool time for the kids. Win-win! Take a look at our favorite hotels in Bangkok!
- It's different from the bus, such a tuktuk. It's the mode of transport par excellence if you want to explore the city in a fun way. Let the reception of the hotel where you're staying assist you in finding a reliable driver.
- Bangkok is an excellent base for various excursions. There is also a lot to do around the city, a report of this can be read here. You will be picked up in the morning and dropped off at the door of your hotel in the evening. It couldn't be easier!
NORTHERN THAILAND.
IN THE NORTH OF THAILAND YOU'LL FIND THE PROVINCE OF CHIANG MAI. WHAT WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER::
- This is where you can experience the jungle at its best. You drive through densely forested areas and the fauna and flora is breathtaking. The kids will immediately imagine themselves in an adventure because it is as if you are travelling through the prints of a comic book.
- Here you will learn about the elephants and you can experience everything up close. Although the elephants are also used as a tourist attraction (which we do not recommend), you can also visit an Elephant Sanctuary. These are shelters for elephants. It is very instructive (and interesting) to be close to these animals. Children and animals, always a good match.
- Visit a local (evening) market. The smells and colours will impress the children. On the market they still sell many products made by the locals themselves.
- Waterfalls! And swimming in nature.
- Take a trip out of town and show your children how people live here. We think it's important that Bas sees with his own eyes that people don't live all over the world like we do. That people here live in wooden huts on stilts. And that they are happy.
SOUTHERN THAILAND
FOR STUNNING SCENERY AND SPECTACULAR VIEWS, FLY TO KRABI
- In the south of Thailand you will find the idyllic postcard beaches. White or golden yellow sandy beaches where you imagine yourself in paradise. Chasing crabs on the beach or spotting fish in the clear blue water.
- Krabi is the perfect base for numerous boat trips. That boat trip is an experience in itself!
- Clear water + lively underwater world = snorkeling!
- There are several islands off the Thai coast. Such an island you explore perfectly by scooter. A big hit for Bas, because he was allowed on the quad with his dad!
- We visited the island of Koh Yao Noi and man we enjoyed so much! A whole beach for us alone, no lie!
- A canoe trip to an uninhabited island. What an adventure for our little explorer! We were even accompanied by flying fish. Seriously, it couldn't get any better than this!
